Directors of BAS have graduated from NUS Enterprise Leadership of Transformation (ELT) program

25 Feb 2022 marked the successful completion of the NUS Enterprise Leadership of Transformation (ELT) program. Mr. Richard Thay and Mr. Roy Toh have graduated from the program. They look forward to introducing new business models and concepts to enhance our businesses.
Mr. Roy Toh was invited to give a graduation speech on this special occasion.
Good afternoon, fellow transformer graduate. I am Roy from Battery Asia (S) Pte Ltd.
Firstly, I would like to thank Anna for this opportunity to stand before you to share our thoughts about this course.
For a start, BAS's primary business is on the distribution of lead-acid batteries for electrical material handling equipment. We embarked on a transformation journey since 2019, to transform our business model from being a lead-acid battery distributor to a lithium-ion battery solution manufacturer for the electrical material handling equipment industry.
This project is funded by Enterprise Singapore via a CDG grant and partnership with Temasek Polytechnic.
The journey is tough and challenging. Throughout the whole duration, we faced many challenges both internally and externally. Covid added additional pain to all of us. Facing many uncertainties, our strong belief in our decision and the team keep us going... Nevertheless, in Dec 2021, we have our system certified by VDE (German test center) for IEC safety standards. This implies that we are good to sell our product in the international market. Currently, our products have already been used by leading forklift manufacturers.
The ELT course has enabled us to put our plan into a concrete proposal and execute it progressively. On a personal basis, the ELT course allows me to meet up with many individuals with strong personalities and character. For example, Joseph of Jason Electronic… an individual with a desire for knowledge and excellent PR skills. An additional bonus for me is the forming of “G6” with great individuals who have provided me guidance both on a business and personal level.
Between Richard and me, the ELT course presents us with a platform to discuss matters that we may not have the opportunity to discuss during our normal days. On the company level, colleagues benefit from the business concept we learn and the processes that we introduce to the company.
Special thanks to all the senior advisors, especially to Nalin and Dennis for their guidance throughout the course. We hope one day our products will sell as fast as Liho bubble tea, Seng Choon eggs, and Tong Garden peanut.
Lastly, thanks to all the friendship and wishing all the best for current and future undertaking.
